JOB DESCRIPTION: Program Manager - LA Organizing Project
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Executive Director and the Organizing Director, the Program Manager is responsible for leading a small team of Community Organizers in East Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley regions to engage, mobilize and empower disenfranchised communities through community organizing projects and civic engagement campaigns.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee launch and implementation of DHFs community base building (house meeting) campaign to establish multiple Vecinos Unidos (Neighbors United) chapters.
2. Supervise and coach a small team of Community Organizers.
3. Coordinate and facilitate planning meetings and power analysis sessions to develop community led campaigns on issues aligned with DHFs strategic and operational plans.
4. Facilitate trainings for Vecinos Unidos members to build their organizing, advocacy, and leadership capacity.
5. Forge strategic partnerships and act as a liaison with partnering organizations and government agencies.
6. Maintain clear and timely communication to and from community members, community organizers, community stakeholders, and executive leadership team.
7. Coordinate and facilitate weekly check-ins with team members.
8. Schedule weekly team check ins, prepare weekly reports with organizers, and submit monthly progress reports to the executive team.
9. Attend monthly DHF staff meetings in Bakersfield, CA
10. Convey the DHF mission in interactions with others.
11. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
*5 years minimum organizing experience * 3 years minimum management experience
*Program & campaign development *Civic & voter engagement
*Analytical and interpersonal skills *Literate and fluent in English & Spanish
*Large and small event planning *Accuracy in record keeping and reporting
*Ability to work independently & as a team player *Ability to meet deadlines
*Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suites *Strong public speaking skills
*Weekend and evening work required
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Full-time, salary range $75,000 - 85,000/year
