What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at domeconstruction?
Estimator – Dome Construction
At Dome Construction, we’re not just building structures — we’re building trust, relationships, and lasting impact. We’re currently looking for an experienced Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. This role plays a key part in setting projects up for success from day one. If you enjoy working on complex commercial construction projects and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, we’d love to connect.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Estimator, you’ll lead preconstruction efforts on a variety of exciting projects across sectors like Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Tenant Improvements. You’ll be the go-to for all things estimating — from reviewing early sketches to submitting full proposals and working directly with clients and trade partners. You’ll also help mentor team members and work closely with our operations team to ensure a smooth handoff into construction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading multiple preconstruction efforts at a time, including estimates upwards of $20M
- Reviewing design documents and identifying missing information or potential risks
- Developing strategic proposals and presenting to clients with confidence
- Coordinating trade partner outreach, bid forms, and scope coverage
- Working in collaboration with project teams to shape schedules and logistics
- Reviewing RFPs, identifying risks, and supporting proposal strategy
- Staying organized and ahead of deadlines on multiple concurrent pursuits
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who’s confident in their estimating ability and knows how to drive results. You’re highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking the lead. You understand how to turn information (even when it’s incomplete) into a clear plan of action and can communicate that effectively with both internal teams and clients.
Here’s what will help you succeed:
- 3–5 years of experience in estimating or preconstruction for commercial construction
- Strong ability to read and interpret design documents and specifications
- Experience working directly with clients and presenting estimates
- Ability to juggle multiple estimates in different stages
- Familiarity with tools like MS Project, On-Screen Takeoff, and estimating software
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
- A mindset focused on solutions, accuracy, and continuous improvement
