CNC Programmer
Department: Machining Date: April 8, 2025
Schedule: 1st Shift / Monday – Friday / 6:00am – 2:30pm
Salary / Hourly Range: $35 - $42 hr Hours per week: 40
Primary purpose of job:
Responsible for programming and setting up all HAAS CNC and Swiss equipment while maximizing efficiency through lean principles. Collaborates with upper management to Implement automation and innovation throughout all machining operations.
Essential functions of job:
- Understand all department policies, procedures, and guidelines while maintaining a safe and clean work environment
- Programs jobs for all CNC equipment (HAAS DS 30Y w/ Live Tooling, VF2SS w/ 4th axis, Tsugami Swiss BO 325III)
- Perform operations such as milling, drilling, reaming, boring, tapping and turning on both vertical / horizontal CNC machines to produce sample parts.
- Assists team with developing prototypes and new product cost estimates related to machining.
- Work closely with the Tool Designer and department lead while building new stamping tools or sample parts per customer’s request
- Collaborates with engineers and upper management to reduce run rates and labor expenses across the entire shop
- Collaborates with purchaser to routinely review tooling selection focused on increasing efficiency and reducing expenses.
- Conducts quality control procedures to address performance or production issues and minimize cost where possible
- Trains selected employees on CNC equipment.
Required skills, licenses, knowledge, experience or abilities:
- Proficiency with AutoCad, Solidworks, & MasterCam programs
- Demonstrated new product development or innovation experience
- Proficient in GD&T and advanced math skills
- Demonstrates a strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
- Skilled in use of calipers, micrometers, height gages, and pin gages
- Proficient in the use of mills, grinders, drill presses, band saws and lathes
- Demonstrates a strong “team player” mentality
- Strong analytic problem-solving skills
- Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their success
Education and Experience:
- Machining (or related field) Technical Degree is preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience operating & programming HAAS Lathes & Mills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating & programming Tsugami Swiss Lathes
Physical Demands:
- This position requires 70% clerical, designing and planning, and 30% material handling / technical machine operation.
- Safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper foot protection must be worn.
- Ability to lift weights up to 45 lbs.
