Domestic/Sexual Violence Counselor, Full-time, Exempt
The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Center (DASACC) is seeking a full-time Domestic/Sexual Violence Counselor to join our team. The Domestic/Sexual Violence Counselor will provide counseling and crisis stabilization case management services to individuals identifying as victims/survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. This role involves direct client services, administrative duties, and community engagement.
Expected Responsibilities:
Direct Services:
Counseling Services:
- Provide individual and group counseling, peer support services, and referrals to community social services, as needed and appropriate.
- Provide mental health counseling and care, including therapy and counseling services, and substance use referrals/screening/support if directly related to victimization.
- Offer personal advocacy and emotional support through case management, assistance with practical problems created by victimization, and traditional or alternative therapy and healing.
- Crisis-Stabilization Advocacy and Case Management: Provide information, referral services, and assistance with accessing federal and state financial assistance programs.
- Offer legal and medical advocacy and housing support either through direct support or through appropriate referrals, as needed.
- Assist victims in developing safety plans and support them in making decisions related to their safety and well-being.
- Ensure services are culturally and linguistically appropriate, providing interpreters and translating documents into other languages to ensure accessibility for all victims.
Other Duties:
- Participate in all agency event planning and implementation as needed/required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in the database system and ensure client files.meet agency standards.
- Complete required reports, timesheets, expense reimbursement reports, etc.
- Complete the sixty-hour victim counselor privilege training within the first six months of employment.
- Contribute to agency responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a human services field, LSW or LAC required, LCSW or LPC preferred.
- Commitment to the anti-violence movement and cultural competency.
- Skilled in critical thinking, written and verbal communications, problem-solving, and advocacy.
- Adaptable to a changing environment, collaborative, and reliable.
- Computer literacy and comfort with database systems and reporting.
- Valid NJ driver’s license.

Salary: Salary for the Domestic/Sexual Violence Counselor position is $48,925 - $61,8000 per year.
Location: The position is based at DASACC’s main office, with travel required for mobile service delivery and community engagement.
In-Person Work Commitment: DASACC is committed to ensuring an in-person presence to provide the highest level of service to our clients. This position requires a consistent on-site work presence (with the availability of 1-2 remote workdays) to effectively meet the needs of our community and facilitate direct client interactions.
