Qualifications
High school diploma and a two degree in a social service-related field and/or a minimum of two years’ experience working in the domestic violence, IPV or relatable field. Experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Principal Job Duties
- Conduct Prevention activities in the community provide education, awareness and intervention to youth and adults.
- Provide multiple rotations of prevention education through the year to schools, churches, or other organizations.
- Conduct awareness activities that seek education and prevent domestic and sexual violence.
- Build relationships with community organizations that work with youth.
- Maintains relationships with collaborative partners and cultivates new partnerships in alignment with program objectives.
- Create, facilitate, and oversee a youth-led Community Action Team to engage youth in awareness and education campaigns.
- Develop awareness and education campaigns that counter negative media images and provide youth with an alternative.
- Utilize the social-ecological model to develop materials and programs that seek to increase knowledge and change attitudes about violence in the community.
- Organizes and engages in events that engage the community creating an opportunity for awareness and education.
- Provide direct outreach services to children, youth and young adults impacted by IPV.
- Complete intakes and provide ongoing lethality assessments, safety planning, goal setting, and service planning with survivors on a case-by-case basis.
- Advocate on behalf of survivors and their children to ensure that all rights and remedies are secured.
- Conduct domestic violence safety planning with survivors and their children incorporating life generated and batterer generated risk into safety plans.
- Staff cases routinely with supervisor.
- Working in partnership with shelter advocate’s to support families living in shelter transitioning into independent living.
- Meet with parents/children individually in shelter prior to their exit to ensure access to support in independent living.
- Conduct prevention education with youth in shelters that incorporate healthy relationships, parenting, and prevention education.
- Create and curate prevention and awareness content for online social communication channel.
- Maintain accurate participant data, complete statistics as required by supervisor, funding and regulatory sources including the timely completion of data collection program with backup as required.
- Attend and participate in weekly case review meetings, staff meetings and additional training as required.
- Assist with shelter coverage when requested.
- Ensure that training hours are maintained each year and reported appropriately to supervisors for documentation in employee files.
- Ensure all grant requirements are achieved and proper documentation is obtained.
- Ensure the facility and offices are safe, clean, and free of hazards.
- Complete any other assignments at the direction of the Outreach Manager and/or Chief Executive Officer.
