What are the responsibilities and job description for the Managing Attorney #023 position at Domestic Violence Action Center?
The primary duties of the managing attorney will be to oversee the office’s family law litigation and other advocacy, to plan and implement outreach to and collaborate with stakeholders and community groups, and to foster supportive relationships with the local bar. The managing attorney will also handle his/her own caseload proportionate to management and administrative duties, including supervision of support staff and staff attorney and grant monitoring/compliance.
MUST BE LICENSED AND ABLE TO PRACTICE LAW IN HAWAII.

Desired qualifications and Responsibilties:
- Familiarity with organizational models for specialized services to victims of domestic violence, willingness to implement models to meet program objectives; ability to provide guidance for staff representing victims of abuse and trauma. Experience supervising staff operations and facilitating inter-agency relations
- Oversee legal staff that include staff attorneys, paralegals and Helpline specialist.
- Make assignment of legal cases to staff attorneys. Monitor caseloads for balance in complexity, stage of case activity and existing workloads.
- Manage recruitment, hiring and training of legal staff through participation in interviews and development of hiring criteria.
- Facilitate performance counseling of legal staff and, when necessary, participate in termination of legal staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations of legal staff.
- Facilitate case acceptance decisions providing consultation on readiness and client issues.
