What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook - Part Time, On Call up to 15 hours/month position at Domestic Violence Intervention Services, Inc.?

Position Summary
The cook serves as a staff member at will of Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS). The cook provides professional food preparation services for the 90 bed DVIS Shelter.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Priority 1: Equity and Inclusion
Other Duties/Responsibilities: Other assistance to support the overall goals of the department and organization. DVIS retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises departmental interns and/or volunteers.
Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibilities: Acts as a good steward of DVIS's resources.
Responsibility for Confidentiality: The nature of this position requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of DVIS and its clients.
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Requires minimum of 1-year experience in kitchen work, food preparation and food service experience - institutional experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite are necessary. A background in health and nutrition preferred.
Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner, and gender-based domestic and sexual violence, and racial, class, gender, sexual orientation issues, and intervention/prevention services strongly preferred. Requires dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion, excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks. Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-task and changing environment, with frequent pressure related to meeting deadlines and scheduling requirements. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

- Prepare and serve nutritionally balanced meals and snacks to the residents
- Assist with the development of and preparation for daily menus to be posted on Sundays for the entire week to follow ensuring all nutritional components are being served
- Using kitchen equipment according to directions. Report any malfunctioning kitchen equipment in a timely manner. Make sure all equipment and pilot lights are turned at the end of shift.
- Coordinate resident involvement with clean up after meals.
- Keep kitchen area, kitchen equipment, dishes and utensils neat, clean and sanitary.
- Report any unsanitary conditions such as dirt, vermin or pest.
- Dispose of spoiled or out of date food.
- Record daily resident meal counts, food weight and nutritional component records according to standards set forth by DVIS policy.
- Assist in the monitoring of food stocks. Perform weekly checks on all applicable food products for expiration dates.
- Picking up food at the Eastern Oklahoma Food Bank and other locations or stores.
- Assist in the managing of the monthly food budget and ordering only needed food items.
- Have all orders approved prior to ordering by the Assistant Shelter Director.
