Position Summary
The Shelter Facilities Support Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This position is responsible for ensuring the shelter is well-prepared to meet the needs of its residents through meticulous room preparation, supply management, and support for kitchen and maintenance staff. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Priority 1: Equity and Inclusion

Priority 2: Room Preparation and Cleaning
- Clean and prepare rooms for new residents after a resident has left the program within 3-5 business days of their departure.
- Ensure all living spaces meet the shelter’s cleanliness and safety standards through regular walk-throughs and inspections.
- Assist with lice and pest control. Order and maintain adequate amounts of lice shampoo, spray, and lice combs.
- Assist maintenance staff with building upkeep tasks such as painting, changing light bulbs, replacing mattresses, etc.
Priority 3: Supply Management for Resident Rooms
- Replenish necessary supplies in resident rooms, including toilet paper, trash bins and bags, shampoo, and conditioner.
- Wash, fold, and restock bedding supplies to prepare for new residents.
Priority 4: Restocking Supplies
- Maintain an inventory of supplies such as OTC medications, clothing, toiletry items, bedding, diapers, and wipes.
- Restock these items either through coordination with the development team to request donations or by making necessary purchases.
- Ensure cleaning supplies are restocked for both staff and clients to maintain a clean environment.
Priority 5: Organization of Donations and Supplies
- Keep donation and supply rooms organized.
- Coordinate with volunteers and staff to ensure efficient organization and distribution of donations and supplies.

Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibilities:. Acts as a good steward of DVIS’s resources.
Responsibility for Confidentiality: The nature of this work requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of DVIS and its clients.
Contact with Others: This position will interact with managers at all levels and staff members across the organization, in addition to members of external organizations and the public.
Documentation: Maintains up-to-date and accurate files for each client according to agency guidelines and current professional standards.
Meetings and Training: Attend meetings and training as requested by supervisor.
Requirements:Education: High school diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven organizational and cleaning skills required.
Proven computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, are necessary.
Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner and gender-based domestic and sexual violence, and racial, class, gender, sexual orientation issues, and intervention/prevention services strongly preferred. Requires dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks. Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-task, and changing environment, with frequent pressure related to meeting deadlines and scheduling requirements. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Schedule Availability: Flexible scheduling available. Must be available for internal meetings every week on Thursdays from 1-2, and the last Wednesday of the month from 3-5. The remaining schedule may be determined upon hire.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license required; current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
