Position Title: Accommodations and Disability Access Coordinator
Department: Academic Success Center
Reports To: Director of Academic Success
Location: On Campus (River Forest, IL)
Position Summary:
The Accommodations and Disability Access Coordinator works with enrolled and prospective students with documented disabilities to provide equal access and the opportunity to participate in University programs, services, and activities. The ADA Coordinator works with the ADA team—including the Assistant Director of Accommodations and Disability Access and Director of Academic Success to provides exam accommodations, academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, and services to students. The ADA Coordinator must demonstrate a commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, student development, and universal designs in university/division-wide projects and initiatives. The ADA Coordinator will work with students who receive accommodations by providing ongoing case management and the support needed to persist towards their educational goals. The ADA Coordinator is sensitive to the needs of a diverse student body and is committed to assisting the Division of Student Success & Engagement in enhancing and supporting the student development experience consistent with the mission of a Sinsinawa Dominican Catholic liberal arts university.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Support and Assessment (50%)
- Conduct comprehensive intake interviews for students seeking accommodations, utilizing a thorough understanding of their needs to determine appropriate support measures.
- Analyze psychosocial and medical documentation to assess service eligibility, evaluate disability-related needs, and formulate individualized academic accommodation plans.
- Serve on collaborative teams, including the Student Care Network, to deliver integrated support and coordinated care for students facing complex challenges.
- Partner with the SOAR (Summer Orientation and Registration) team to facilitate a seamless transition for admitted students, ensuring targeted training and connection points for students, families, and staff.
- Orientate students to critical resources that promote their success, including tutoring, Stars Connect, Housing, Dining, and more.
- Support the Assistant Director with the exam accommodation process, including strategic communication with students and faculty, coordination of necessary technologies, and supervision of exams in the Academic Success Center.
Community Education (25%)
- Help the Assistant Director and Director design and implement ongoing professional development opportunities for faculty and SSE staff in collaboration with the Center for Teaching and Learning to enhance understanding of universal design principles, adaptive technology, and effective accommodation strategies.
- Support the design and proposal of policies and procedures that promote inclusivity and universal design across programs and facilities, collaborating with the Assistant Director and Director and other campus partners such as Admissions, Dining, Housing, and the Office of Justice, Equity, and Inclusion.
Accommodations Management & Compliance (15%)
- Support with the development and implementation of systems for ADA compliance, including documentation retention and case management processes, ensuring best practices are followed.
- Support with the secure management of disability records, protecting student confidentiality in accordance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
- Help maintain and assess the inventory of assistive technology resources, conducting research and recommending innovative acquisitions to meet evolving student needs.
- Help with the collection and analysis of service data to evaluate effectiveness, inform planning, and generate comprehensive periodic reports.
Other (10%)
- Mentor student employees within the department, fostering a culture of professional growth and excellence.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, special education, or a closely related field.
- Experience utilizing assistive technologies and digital resources to support diverse learning needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with a range of support services tailored to meet the unique needs of students with psychological, learning, visual, hearing, mobility, and other disabilities in the post-secondary education context.
- Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and other relevant laws governing higher education and disability services.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines with ease.
- Ability to take initiative and follow through with minimal supervision.
- Ability to foster an equitable and inclusive working and learning environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in both oral and written forms to various stakeholders, including students, faculty, and administrative personnel.
- Strong organizational abilities, with a proven capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proven ability to thrive in a diverse, team-oriented environment, fostering collaboration and inclusivity.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in counseling, special education, or a closely related.
- Previous experience and proficiency working with Learning Management System (Canvas).

- Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Salary and FLSA Status
- Salary: $49,000 - $52,000 annually
- FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-time, 37.5 hours
