Position Title: Assistant Director of Major Gifts
Department: University Advancement
Reports To: Assistant Vice President for Development
Location: On-campus (River Forest, IL)
 
 
Position Summary: 
Serving as a member of Dominican’s Development staff, the Assistant Director of Major Gifts will develop and grow relationships between key stakeholders and the University. This individual will play a key role in supporting special fundraising initiatives and other activities as outlined in the strategic plan of the University. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Development, the Assistant Director of Major Gifts will work collaboratively with Advancement colleagues and designated campus partner to increase philanthropic support for Dominican University.
 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Develop, manage, and maintain a diverse portfolio of 100-125 donors and prospects, helping donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through commitments to Dominican. A specific focus will be to cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of prospects and major donors to Dominican at the $25,000 level.
  • Conduct necessary outreach of 15 to 20 meaningful points of contact a week with prospects and donors, making regular in-person donor visits a priority.
  • Work with Advancement colleagues and campus partners to facilitate invitations to events that align with donor interests and attend events, which include occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Together with Major Gifts colleagues, inform the President on prospect and donor strategy and implementation.
  • Serve as University Advancement liaison with the Dean of the Brennan School of Business.
  • Perform other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Efficiency with reporting, metrics, Excel, and database analytics.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 to 7 years prior experience in front-line fundraising.
  • Some evening and weekend work and the ability to travel locally and nationally.
  • Must be committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge.
  • Experience with face-to-face solicitation.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Salary and FLSA Status
  • FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
  • SALARY: $80,000 - $84,000
