Position Summary
The Associate Director of Transfer Initiatives will collaborate with the Academic Deans, Department Chairs, Office of Enrollment Management, Offices of the Provost and Registrar, Student Success and Engagement, Information Technology Operations, and other stakeholders to implement and achieve the objectives related to transfer student success in the grant project: “Improve STEM Services, Strengthen Teaching and Learning, Fill Program Gaps,” a 5-year grant funded by the Department of Education. With the funding of this new position, Dominican University seeks to increase transfer student enrollment and improve transfer student success across the institution, particularly for STEM majors.
The Associate Director of Transfer Initiatives will function operationally towards the goal of student services enhancements that are necessary to achieve Dominican’s strategic objectives to eliminate curricular, policy, and structural barriers to transfer student enrollment and retention. The focus will be on action and supporting the systems and cultural transformations needed to move the initiative forward. The role is a conduit to all academic departments and leadership, particularly that of Dominican University’s STEM community. This position will take part on a steering committee and, along with the Director of Transfer Admission, organize meetings composed of campus-wide stakeholders, such as STEM faculty, and will meet monthly (at a minimum) to guide the work and help eliminate barriers to the forward progress. Administrative and organizational aspects of this work will be supported by the Title III-F Project Assistant.
The Associate Director of Transfer Initiatives will be accountable for meeting the performance measures and deliverables in accordance with federal regulations, program requirements, and Dominican University policies and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities
- With the Office of the Registrar, collaborate to improve the development, implementation, and evaluation of revamped transfer student systems, including degree audits, advising worksheets, registration and orientation, and discipline-specific transfer evaluation.
- Consult regularly and work closely with the Title III-F grant administrators for guidance regarding the implementation of project activities and STEM focus.
- Manage TES records and maintain IAI transfer course articulations and upload new data to Transferology, with a focus on STEM coursework.
- Collaborate with partners across divisional units, such as academic deans, and closely with the Director of Transfer Admission to identify policies and practice barriers to transfer student success and engagement.
- In collaboration with Enrollment Management, contribute to the institutional effort to explore transfer student strategies for recruitment events and better utilization of products, such as the visibility and functionality of Transferology. Incorporate STEM-specific Transfer Guides to post on Transferology.
- Actively participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
- Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience and knowledge of STEM programs
- Experience with post-secondary students and knowledge of curricula and course sequencing
- Experience with transfer student advising and knowledge of transfer student barriers, particularly among STEM disciplines
- Broad community or university experience with Hispanic, first-generation, low-income and/or other underrepresented students and services
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite: Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
- Must be committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive working and learning environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Capacity for collaborating with partners across a complex institution
- Demonstrated ability to develop excellent working relationships with internal (e.g., students, faculty, staff, and administrators) and external stakeholders

- Ability to develop and independently manage a variety of time-sensitive projects simultaneously and meet all required deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working 3 – 5 years with TES and/or Jenzabar
- Knowledge of STEM curricula and course sequencing
- Proficiency in TES and Jenzabar
- Experience with Dominican majors and core curriculum and an understanding of the history of the University’s transfer student enrollment trends and challenges; knowledge of Dominican strategic objectives regarding increasing transfer student enrollment and success
Physical Demands:
- Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Salary and FLSA Status
- Salary: $58,000 - $62,000
- FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-time, 37.5 hours
