POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Curious to explore the breadth of services and resources Libraries offer? The User Experience Team is looking for passionate, innovative, and curious students to staff our creative spaces in the library. Turn your personal interest in audio/visual production, media literacy, makerspaces, or DIY project into professional experience and pave the way for your future as a Librarian!
The Recording Studio and Innovation Lab both allow the Dominican community opportunities to use technology they may not have the resources or space to own. Patrons can bring their own projects to work on or use the equipment to try something new. In this role, you will assist users with studio and lab equipment and creative projects. You will learn how these tools work inside and out as you troubleshoot, maintain, and document our equipment. You'll use this growing knowledge and experience to provide individual and group instruction, curate library displays and collections, as well as develop exhibits of works from visiting artists or the University’s Archive holdings.
JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and maintain a supportive environment that is conducive to skill development
- Provide individual and group instruction on Recording Studio and/or Innovation Lab technology and skills with opportunities to lead in-class instruction sessions
- Learn how these tools work inside and out as you troubleshoot, maintain, and document our technology
- Aid with various elements of audio/visual production
- Maintain machines, tools, materials, safe use, and schedule of the Recording Studio
- Plan and Facilitate workshops and training for students on the use of equipment and safety protocols
- Develop projects in partnership with student organizations and groups interested in promoting use/space of Recording Studio and Innovation Lab (such as Tutorial Videos)
- Assist with Library events, workshops, and classes
- Work creatively with social media team to promote the work of the Recording Studio and Innovation Lab to the broader campus community.
- Perform other duties as requested, delegated or assigned

- Ability to deal effectively and efficiently with patrons
- Good communication skills with patrons and supervisors
- Dependability and ability to work independently
- Able to conceptualize creatively and quickly, as well as the ability to see projects through to fruition is a must
- Knowledge of Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), Panopto, and Video Editing software (iMovie, Final Cut, Da Vinci Resolve) preferred but not required
- Must be enrolled at least at part-time, graduate degree-seeking status at Dominican University
- Must be eligible for US Employment
