Position Title: Visiting Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor (Non-tenure track)
Department: School of Social Work
Reports To: School of Social Work Director
Location: On-site (River Forest Campus)
 
 
POSITION SUMMARY: 
The successful candidate will help maintain and develop bilingual language and bi-cultural curriculum in areas of practice, advanced diversity, HBSE, and policy. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the school's overall social work curriculum, teach graduate-level courses, advise and mentor MSW students, and serve on school, college, and University committees. Faculty are supported through various professional development opportunities, mentoring, and small research grant opportunities.
 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Work collaboratively to develop MSW courses in Spanish. This includes designing courses that align with CSWE competencies.
  • Teach and advise students in the bilingual/bicultural MSW program.
  • Support CSWE accreditation processes.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working with diverse student and community populations and contribute to fostering a culturally inclusive education environment.
  • Participate in School of Social Work, college level, and university governance, contribute to campus life, and engage in ongoing professional development
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program
  • LCSW required for Clinical Assistant Professor, five years post MSW experience required for Lecturer.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Experience in bilingual and/or bi-cultural curriculum or practice experience.
  • A commitment to their teaching excellence and development regarding inclusive, critical, active pedagogical approaches as well as in online/in-person and hybrid formats.
  • A commitment to working with first-generation, immigrant, and/or underrepresented/historically excluded students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Experience and/or interest in developing community-based collaborations.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching or creating, organizing and/or leading programs for minoritized student populations.
  • Mentorship experience with Latinx and Black students and training or experience in culturally responsive teaching.
  • Publication experience
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Salary and FLSA Status
  • FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
