Group-Based Mental Health Professional (Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program)

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Community-Based Counselor is a hybrid position that can operate in different areas of Community Mental Health. The Community-Based Counselor will act in some capacity with
Intensive In-Home, Mental Health Skill Building, Community Stabilization, Mobile Crisis Response, and/or Psychosocial Rehabilitation. They will assess, monitor, and evaluate the health and safety
of the individuals on their assigned caseload. The Community-Based Counselor will engage in ongoing assessment, develop/utilize individual service plans and safety plans when applicable.
The Community-Based Counselor is responsible for completing all documentation as required by DMAS, Licensure, and Dominion Care standards
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
• For IIH with children or adolescents - Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or other Human Services related field with experience working in community mental health. Meet the 2
criteria of a Qualified Mental Health Professional- Child (QMHP-C) or Qualified Mental Health Professional-Eligible (QMHP-E/QMHP-T) per the Virginia Board of Counseling regulations. Please visit

• For Mental health skill-building and psychosocial rehabilitation services with adults - A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college that includes at least 15 semester credits or 22
quarter hours in a human services field, and experience providing mental health services to adults.
Meet the criteria of a Qualified Mental Health Professional- Adult (QMHP-A) or Qualified Mental Health Professional-Eligible (QMHP-E/QMHP-T) per the Virginia Board of Counseling regulations.

Or meet the requirements for a QPPMH per licensing regulations via one of the following criteria: registered with the United States Psychiatric Association (USPRA) as an Associate Psychiatric
Rehabilitation Provider (APRP); (ii) has an associate's degree in a related field (social work, psychology, psychiatric rehabilitation, sociology, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, human
services counseling) and at least one year of experience providing direct services to individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness; or (iii) has a minimum of 90 hours classroom training and 12 weeks
of experience under the direct personal supervision of a QMHP-Adult providing services to individuals with mental illness and at least one year of experience (including the 12 weeks of
supervised experience).
• For community stabilization services, at minimum must satisfy requirements for QMHP-A or QMHP-C; for mobile crisis response services, must satisfy requirements for QMHP-A, QMHP-C,
or QMHP-E/T and have completed DBHDS required mobile crisis response training modules
for youth and/or adults
• Physical Restraint – TOVA Training/CPI Training or current agency approved behavior management program, CPR and First Aid Training
• Medication Management Certification, if applicable
• Must hold a valid, current Commonwealth of VA Driver’s License and be insurable to drive a company vehicle
• Blood borne Pathogens, Infection Control, Emergency Preparedness, Human Rights, HIPAA Training and Decision Driving
• Other requirements as assigned by DMAS and/or licensure standards
Salary : $18 - $22
