Job Summary
The Communications Specialist/Senior Communications Specialist-Nuclear position will support Dominion Energy's V.C. Summer Nuclear Generating Station, providing communications services including but not limited to:
Establishing trusted working relationships with leaders and team members for the purpose of developing communication plans and strategies in support of business goals.
Preparing news articles, briefings, executive messages, newsletters, video and audio messages and other materials about company policy, strategy, events, and projects for internal distribution to the station and to the fleet.
Understanding and staying abreast of internal and industry issues that impact fleet and station operations.
Identifying and playing a significant role in creating key messages delivered by station leaders to employees.
Identifying communication opportunities and needs, and leading development of communication plans to reach multiple diverse audiences.
Advising management on communication strategy and tactics.
Providing daily guidance to departmental staff on complex communications issues or projects.
Assisting with programs and information gathering that support External Affairs and corporate media relations, including facilitating station tours and providing facts in response to media inquiries.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
Senior Communications Specialist 5-10 years corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, media, or related experience. (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience towards the experience requirement).
Communications Specialist 3-5 years corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, media, or related experience. (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience towards the experience requirement).
Experience managing multiple complex communications projects and deadlines.
Demonstrated knowledge of concepts, applications, and theories in public relations, internal communications, news media, news writing, and news judgment.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated initiative and self-direction.
Strong, verbal communication skills.
Superior writing and editing skills.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to lead a team, or to work productively within a team.
Ability to process and respond to information quickly.
Ability to develop and manage network of contacts for information gathering and dissemination.
