Job Summary

Dominion Energy has a Facilities Technician l or Facilities Technician II position available located North Charleston, SC within the Facilities Management Department.


The level of the position will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.


This position will be responsible for all aspects of installing, maintaining, and repairing hearting/air conditioning/ refrigeration equipment, including sheet metal duct work, and ductwork insulation.
This position will perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections, troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC/R equipment, including electrical components, pumps, evaporators, chillers, boilers, ice machines, and other related equipment.
This position will be responsible for completing proper documentation describing work completed and recommended solutions
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Facilities Tech I: 2-5 years’ experience in maintenance and construction (with an emphasis in HVAC). A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving history.
  • Valid Environmental Protection Agency Universal refrigerant recovery card.
  • Overnight travel and on-call are required.
  • Ability to pass the Department of Transportation's medical exam.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pull wire, pull data and run conduit.
  • Ability to repair/replace lighting and ballasts.
  • Knowledgeable in the inspection of new installations for potential maintenance issues and capable of installing, removing, and relocating air conditioning systems as required.
  • Knowledgeable in the methods of inspecting, repairing, and maintaining light industrial and commercial air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment for large buildings including automated building management systems (such as Trane Tracer, and Alerton).
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions without direct supervision.

Facilities Tech II: 5 years’ experience in maintenance and construction (with an emphasis in HVAC). A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving history.
  • Valid Environmental Protection Agency Universal refrigerant recovery card.
  • Overnight travel and on-call are required.
  • Ability to pass the Department of Transportation's medical exam.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Install, alter, maintain electrical systems such as pumps, motors, transformers, lighting, and other electrical equipment.
  • Ability to read electrical one-line drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledgeable in the inspection of new installations for potential maintenance issues and capable of installing, removing, and relocating air conditioning systems as required.
  • Knowledgeable in the methods of inspecting, repairing, and maintaining light industrial and commercial air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment for large buildings including automated building management systems (such as Trane Tracer, and Alerton).
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions without direct supervision.

Education Requirements

High School diploma or GED required.

Associate degree in HVAC technology, commercial/industrial HVAC, or experience in maintenance and construction (with an emphasis on HVAC), or any related technical field, is preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Experience and licensed as Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter, HVAC Mechanic or Certified Building Mechanic preferred.

Prefer that candidate have or be willing to obtain EPA Certification - Type I, II, III (Universal) and R-410A Certification.
