Job Summary

The Marine Coordinator I is an entry-level role that will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of all offshore vessel activities within the CVOW Pilot and Commercial wind lease areas including the export cable corridor. This will involve the use of site-specific software to monitor and track all personnel and vessel movements within areas of construction and operations. This position will be part of a team of Marine Coordinators who help ensure the safety of both personnel and vessels operating in the wind lease area. The Marine Coordinator I position will help maintain 24 x 7 operational coverage that will require shift work with strict adherence to established routine procedures.

The ideal Marine Coordinator will have a positive attitude and be able to work in a fast-paced environment where effective communications and organizational skills will be keys to success. Candidates for this position will have experience participating in daily operation briefs as well as experience maintaining schedules for assets working in the field. Highly qualified candidates should have experience working in field operations or in a dispatching center and have experience with shiftwork. All candidates must have a demonstratable history of effective communications and have a solid understanding of basic computer programs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

0-2 years of related knowledge and experience.

Experience maintaining daily operational logs as well as documenting other unplanned issues associated with work being conducted in the field. Ability to lead operational briefs for small groups of stakeholders. Familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of programs and have the ability to learn job-specific computer applications. Documented history of effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Ability to monitor weather forecast models and report potential hazards to stakeholders both in the field and onshore. Ability to address multiple tasks simultaneously and handle constantly changing and emerging priorities. Experience communicating with personnel or assets in the field using radios, email, VoIP phones or other two-way devices. Experience following documented procedures associated with complex project scopes.

Ability to compile, analyze and interpret information and data to make sound decisions and recommendations. Strong organization and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated consensus-building skills and the ability to establish and maintain a high level of trust through independent decision-making.

Preferred

Experience with shift work either on shore or as part of an offshore crew.

Past experience as a member of the USCG, Army or Navy in a command center or vessel support role. Experience in coordinating offshore vessels in real-time through regular communications using radios and other forms of communications. Experience operating in the renewable wind energy industry in either the terrestrial or offshore setting. Knowledge and understanding of emergency response plans, Incident Command Structure (ICS), risk assessments and safety management systems (SMS). Ability to interpret weather forecasts and weather-related data products and develop a recommendation to stakeholders. Experience managing or engaging in commercial vessel activities as either crew or shore-based support. Possess a maritime background with knowledge and experience of national and international maritime regulations relating to maritime safety and environment protection (COLREGS, MARPOL, SOLAS). Understanding of vessel navigational equipment, aids to navigation and experience using nautical charts and an understanding of hydrographic and meteorological characteristics as they relate to maritime environment. Working knowledge of power generation and an understanding of regulations and policies governing regulatory compliance in wind energy. Experience with the development and implementation of Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and Safety Management System (SMS). Have an ability to effectively clearly communicate during an emergency situation with Federal, State and local emergency responders to initiate response and effectively respond to an incident. Demonstratable project communication, leadership and management skills. Proven analytical skills and the ability to review and comprehend technical information. Ability to provide input to USCG Local Notice to Mariners and CVOW website on expected project work. Understanding of different vessel types, propulsion systems, vessel stability and vessel bridge procedures. Experience maintaining oversight and control of personnel competencies and trainings through a project personnel management system.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelors

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

  • Current FCC VHF or GMDSS certificates
  • National Incident Management System, Incident Command System certification
  • Valid driver's license
