Job Summary
Responsible for supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of all various forms of online monitoring in Electric Transmission and Distribution Substation. Knowledge of technology to include but not limited to compliance and operational on-line monitoring installed on power transformers, circuit breakers and substation DC battery systems. Provide technical support for monitoring applications in substations for compliance and operational functions. Primary task will be the installation of substation DC battery systems. Assist with the development, selection, and implementation of online monitoring equipment and software. Assist in the development of switchyard maintenance and operating procedures for online monitoring equipment. Develop maintenance and troubleshooting guidelines. Interface with Dominion substation engineering to ensure monitoring communication applications are acceptable to standard for online monitoring and remote access. Conduct training sessions as required for field personnel.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:
- 5 years directly related experience. Interface experience with Substation Engineering and Substation technical roles.
- Graduate of Electrical Equipment or System Protection Development Programs desirable;
- Advanced computer skills and knowledge of software applications used in Electric Transmission maintenance and record keeping;
- Knowledge of substation equipment, operations and maintenance; Strong skills for obtaining, reporting and managing electronic databases;
- Extensive knowledge of Electric Transmission safety and work guidelines and procedures;
- Have a working knowledge of control design drawings;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, teambuilding skills, organizational skills;
- Strong leadership and problem solving skills;
- Must be capable of working with minimum supervisor, must be self-motivated with excellent time management skills;
- Must be capable of lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and prolonged standing;
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
