Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support optometrists in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic. You will be responsible for assisting with various tasks related to patient management, medical billing, and maintaining a welcoming environment for patients.. Pre -exam teching, CL knowledge,Optical and insurance PA's useful

Duties

  • Greet patients and manage check-in/check-out processes while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and explaining procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems, including Epic.
  • Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and intraocular pressure measurements.
  • Educate patients on contact lens care and eyewear options, ensuring a positive retail experience.
  • Handle medical billing and coding tasks to ensure accurate processing of insurance claims.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, adhering to aseptic techniques as required.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance patient flow and overall clinic efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical assisting or related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, billing practices, and coding is highly desirable.
  • Experience using electronic health record systems, particularly Epic, is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of retail math principles to assist in eyewear sales effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in a clinical setting is an advantage but not mandatory.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
