Duties
- Greet patients and manage check-in/check-out processes while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and explaining procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems, including Epic.
- Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and intraocular pressure measurements.
- Educate patients on contact lens care and eyewear options, ensuring a positive retail experience.
- Handle medical billing and coding tasks to ensure accurate processing of insurance claims.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, adhering to aseptic techniques as required.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance patient flow and overall clinic efficiency.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical assisting or related field is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, billing practices, and coding is highly desirable.
- Experience using electronic health record systems, particularly Epic, is preferred.
- Strong understanding of retail math principles to assist in eyewear sales effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Prior experience in a clinical setting is an advantage but not mandatory.
