Dominion Financial Services (DFS) is a mortgage originator for single family real estate. DFS originates two main loan products – a short-term bridge loan for fix & flip investors, and a long-term rental loan for landlords growing their rental portfolios. DFS is thriving in the current competitive environment and shows aggressive quarterly growth. Our current origination volume is $70MM per month. DFS is looking for a detail-oriented Controller to join our growing team.
As the Controller you will oversee daily accounting operations, including the accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable departments.

- Lead and direct all accounting operational functions
- Establish polices and procedures within the department as needed
- Prepare internal and external financial statements
- Manage and complete audits
- Maintain and establish policies and procedures for effectively recording, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions
- Evaluate accounting and internal control systems
- Develop and monitor business performance metrics
- Manage multiple balance sheets
- Manage cash flow across multiple balance sheets
- Oversee daily processing of deposits, wires, payables
- Analyze monthly reporting for upper management in connection with all DFS companies
- Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
- Locate and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 6-8 years of related experience with 3 years of supervisory experience
- Strong experience working with QuickBooks
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word proficiency
- Analytical thinking skills to include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results and/or relationships
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience in mortgage related fields a plus
- Real estate knowledge is a plus
