The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of post-degree, professional experience, and work samples that demonstrate proficiency in both the creation of designs and development of contract documents in a digital format.

Dominion Seven Architects is a family-oriented firm celebrating its 80th year in business. The firm’s name is derived from the Old Dominion (Virginia) and the City of Seven Hills (Lynchburg) and reflects the primary area of the firm’s projects. The firm is located in downtown Lynchburg in a former freight depot located along the James River. Lynchburg is ideally located in the geographic center of the state, providing easy access to the beach, mountains, or urban centers to the north and south. The firm prides itself on providing personalized architectural services to a variety of educational, municipal, and private customers. Specialties of D7 include educational, animal care, adaptive use, and multi-family projects. Approximately 75% of the firm’s annual work is from existing customers.
Required Qualifications
Dominion Seven Architects is seeking an individual for a full-time position.
A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Architecture from a school accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Possession of an architectural license from the Virginia Board of Architects. The candidate shall have experience in a professional architectural office developing architectural design renderings and project drawings utilizing Autodesk Revit. Proficiency in Enscape is ideal. The candidate shall have excellent problem-solving skills. A valid driver’s license and excellent written and verbal skills are required.
Job Responsibilities
- Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Create architectural designs and concepts based on client input and feedback.
- Prepare documents in various architectural phases including floor, and roof plans, building elevations, sections, schedules, and details.
- Interpret and apply building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies to develop life safety plans and documentation.
- Coordinate engineering designs, and systems (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) with the architectural model.
- Attend project coordination meetings with Owners, Engineers, and Contractors.
- Assist with Construction Administration responsibilities including submittal review, color selection, and observation.
- Assist with marketing activities including the development of proposals, associated graphics, and social media interactions.
