Overview : As a Chief Estimator specializing in tunneling projects, you will play a pivotal role in leading and overseeing all estimating activities for our company. This role requires a deep understanding of tunneling and heavy civil projects, along with strong leadership skills to supervise and guide the estimating team.
Responsibilities :
- Lead, review, and approve all estimating activities related to tunneling projects.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of contract plans, specifications, and other bid documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Supervise and mentor estimating personnel dedicated to tunneling bids.
- Identify and assess major and unique items in Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Engage with major subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
- Prepare detailed comparison sheets using HCSS (HeavyBid) software.
- Address Diversity / Minority / Women Business Enterprise (D / M / WBE) requirements and develop plans to fulfill these obligations.
- Develop concise and compelling write-ups and documentation for Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) and RFP responses.
- Prepare and organize all bid and proposal submission documents.
- Establish Joint Venture (JV) manuals and set up bids accordingly for collaborative projects.
- Price bid items accurately and collaborate with project teams for comprehensive bid reviews.
- Coordinate timelines for equipment procurement and logistics to support project needs.
- Delegate assignments and oversee the work of estimators involved in take-off activities.
- Maintain effective communication with owner's representatives, clients, and JV partners throughout the bidding process.
