Don Quijote Kaheka offering a wide selection of Japanese, American, and Hawaiian grocery and general merchandise. Customers are provided with a variety of products that you won’t find in a typical grocery store environment. Fresh, seasonal, and variety of foods are our passion!
We’re immediately hiring associates for our Sushi department. Sushi chefs, Sushi clerks, and experienced Sashimi Cutters are needed!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES in Sushi Department (responsibilities include, but are not limited to depending on the job classification):
- Cutting, Packing, and Cleaning Fish
- Food Preparation
- Ensures seafood is handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised
- Checks product temperature to ensure freshness and quality
- Ability to maintain a knife grip in order to cut fish or other seafood to specification
- Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate perishable products per company standards
- Ensures that all seafood products are in its right place, so shoppers can find what they need quickly and easily
- Prepare Sashimi/Sushi platters
- Cutting and labeling seafood items
- Unpacking and stocking seafood items
- Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep
- Must clean and sanitize work areas
- Work Environment will be in extreme temperature
Customer Service:
- Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions
- Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- Meets or exceeds Department’s sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures
- Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor
- Ensures a safe and clean work environment
- Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives
- 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred
- Experience as a Sushi chef or Fish Cutter is preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid, occasionally more weight with assistance
- Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties including cold temperatures. Hands are in frequent contact with water, vegetables, and fish while performing job duties.
All Candidates must be able to work evening shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
