A Restaurant Busser maintains a clean and tidy environment for our Guests while being fully responsible for the sanitary handling of oysters. Also known as Oyster Shuckers, Bussers prepare our locally harvested oysters by rinsing, shucking, and grilling to perfection while ensuring all safety and health regulations are met. Along with overseeing the oyster station, Bussers work predominantly in the dining area, shifting from one responsibility to the next depending on who needs assistance, whether team members, management, or Guests. As our essential support team, Bussers help all departments work together to achieve organizational goals and provide memorable experiences for our Guests.
A Busser must be able to naturally engage in conversations with Guests, maintain a professional appearance, and work efficiently under pressure. The right person will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be passionate about food, hospitality, and exceeding Guests' expectations. The ideal candidate will be perceptive enough to notice who needs assistance at any given moment and always provide a helping hand with a positive attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Carefully handle, prepare, and serve oysters using original recipes and following all safety and health regulations
- Protect Guests and team members by following sanitation standards, safety protocols, and health codes
- Assist Servers, Bartenders, Hostesses, Kitchen staff, and management as needed.
- Execute opening and closing duties such as setting up workstations with required ingredients and equipment for preparing oysters, monitoring inventory levels, and putting everything away in its designated area upon closing
- Label, date, and rotate all prepped ingredients for grilling oysters
Qualifications:
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment and machinery such as ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors, etc.
- Interpersonal skills to interact with other team members, such as waitstaff, dishwashers, and management
- Ability to endure extreme heat and stand in one place for hours at a time
- Ability to handle work in a fast-paced environment
- Calm demeanor to work in a high-stress environment
