The Transportation Analyst II role is responsible for ensuring timely, damage free delivery of Donaldson products throughout North America. This is a great role for a critical thinker with a passion for logistics who enjoys problem solving. Ideal candidates for this role will have strong analytical skills, a background in distribution network design and execution strategies, and experience working across multiple modes of transportation. This is a hybrid position with an office based in Bloomington, MN.
Role Responsibilities:
Analyzes the transportation and distribution systems, procedures, and methods to develop and utilize the most economically advantageous and efficient means of delivering products to Donaldson customers.
Conducts distribution network studies to maximize the efficiency of operations and drive out costs while meeting or exceeding on time delivery performance standards.
Communicates distribution strategy. Educates and trains shipping teams in the use of transportation related software applications necessary to execute daily shipping transactions. Creates standard work and formalized SOP's for all parties involved in the movement of Donaldson freight.
Analyze and optimize the outbound logistics strategy to meet company and/or business unit requirements for delivery and cost by leveraging Donaldson's TMS (Navisphere) and freight payment data.
Procure transportation services, negotiate contracts/rates, and manage performance of transportation service providers. Conducts regular benchmarking studies to ensure competitive pricing based on market conditions.
Develop carrier scorecards, manage carrier KPI's and conduct quarterly business reviews.
Manages to department KPI's for on time performance, cost savings, and OS&D claims.
Ensure timely payment of carrier invoices.
Mines data, develops reports, and uses critical thinking to validate current processes and adjusts as needed.
Forecasts trends, analyzes risk, develops, and monitors metrics, acts as subject matter expert for logistics and supports cost savings initiatives, while maintaining service requirements.
This position supports manufacturing and distribution facilities, procurement, engineering, finance, and transfers groups.
Minimum Qualifications:
2 years of professional-level logistics or transportation experience
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business management or related field or commensurate prior experience in logistics or transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience sourcing transportation services, executing RFP's, contract negotiations, and rate management
Strong understanding of LTL, Parcel and Full Truckload pricing structures and score carding
Direct experience routing and load planning
Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
Exceptional analytical skills, strong functional knowledge of MS Excel
Direct experience with logistics procurement, contract negotiations, and rate management
Functional knowledge of DOT hours of service rules, freight claims, hazardous materials shipping
Demonstrated knowledge of primary modes of transportation including but not limited to Parcel, Less Than Truckload (LTL), Full Truckload (FTL), Ground Expedited, and Airfreight
Functional knowledge of lean principles and DMAIC Process
Basic understanding of INCOTERMS and experience working with Oracle EBS, Navisphere TMS and Power BI a plus
APICS CSCP, CPIM, or CLTD a plus
