SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
This position is responsible for the coordination of transportation services with the District's contractor for student transportation (currently Durham School Services). When not performing duties as the transportation coordinator, the position is responsible for providing secretarial duties and support to the Operations and Safety Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Serves as a liaison between the District and the transportation contractor.
- Responds to parent / guardian concerns related to address changes and bus stop concerns.
- Collaborates with the transportation contractor to create District bus routes.
- Coordinates transportation services for non-public schools and students in need of alternate
- transportation due to special circumstances.
- Generates purchase orders for supplies and contracted services.
- Completion of local, state and federal reports and forms.
- Manage District vehicle use requests.
- Oversee facilities reservation software.
- Program and manage building access and the card reader system.
- Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders..
- Maintain confidentiality in all duties.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by school leadership or district administration.
SCOPE AND IMPACT
This position requires adaptability and collaboration across various roles within the District. Internal contacts include school administration, faculty, the Board, and district staff, while external contacts include parents, community organizations, and other stakeholders. The role requires fostering trust, effective communication, and maintaining confidentiality.
