Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Underground /Drain Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction plumbing and mechanical knowledge, with the ability to work effectively on residential and construction sites. As an Underground/Drain Technician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining drainage systems to ensure optimal functionality. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Duties as an Underground Technician

  • Perform general labor tasks under the direction of Lead Underground Specialist.
  • Assisting in excavation for sewer repairs & replacements or water services.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools and heavy equipment to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials.
  • Assist with Warehouse tasks as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines maintaining contact with Lead and other crewman.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Duties as a Drain Technician:

  • Perform thorough inspections and assessments of drainage and sewer systems to identify issues, blockages, leaks, or damage.
  • Utilize various tools and equipment such as drain snakes, hydro-jetting machines, video inspection cameras, and pipe locators to diagnose and troubleshoot drainage and sewer problems.
  • Clear blockages and obstructions from drains, pipes, and sewer lines using appropriate methods, including snaking, hydro-jetting, or chemical treatments.
  • Repair or replace damaged or broken drain and sewer lines, fittings, valves, and other components.
  • Conduct camera inspections to locate hidden issues, assess pipe condition, and provide accurate reports and recommendations to clients.
  • Collaborate with customers to explain findings, discuss repair options, and provide cost estimates for necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including detailed notes, photographs, and invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards, regulations, and company policies during all tasks.
  • Continuously update knowledge and skills through training and staying current with industry advancements.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in plumbing, drain cleaning, or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Drain/Sewer Technician or in a similar role, demonstrating strong technical skills and knowledge of drainage and sewer systems.
  • Proficient in operating drain cleaning equipment such as drain snakes, hydro-jetting machines, video inspection cameras, and pipe locators.
  • Familiarity with a variety of pipe materials (PVC, cast iron, clay, etc.) and their corresponding repair methods.
  • Previous experience in a labor-intensive role or use of underground equipment is not required but preferred.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret plumbing blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think analytically when diagnosing and resolving complex drainage and sewer issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly and concisely to customers.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy equipment and working in tight spaces.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Pay is dependent on experience. Health and Dental benefits after completing 90 days of employment. Opportunity for further training and growth.
