Under the direction of a Tissue Recovery Coordinator, the Tissue Recovery Technician (TRT) will be responsible for the recovery of bone, skin, and cardiovascular tissue. You will maintain a thorough knowledge of human anatomy, demonstrate excellent aseptic and tissue recovery techniques, maintain a low surgical error rate, and follow all FDA GTP (Good Tissue Practice) and AATB (American Association of Tissue Banks) standards. Additionally, the TRT will work closely with the Office of the Medical Examiner, hospital, funeral home, and other agency staff as directed by the Tissue Recovery Coordinator.

Training/Education/Certification
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical background - RN, LPN, M.A., O.R. tech, mortician, Tissue Bank Specialist preferred
- Minimum 6 months of a related medical background
- Preferred experience 1-2 years
- Knowledge of the organ and tissue transplant fields preferred
- Understanding of the operating room environment preferred
- Excellent public relations and interpersonal abilities
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Attentive to detail and able to maintain accurate records
- Able to work well with all levels of personnel in hospital settings and within the differing guidelines of each institution
- Works well under stressful conditions, and when asked to work long hours if needed
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently
- Exposure to patient elements including communicable disease, bloodborne pathogens, and other common hazards of a clinical setting
- Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
