Donovan Catholic High School in Toms River is seeking an individual
to assume the responsibilities of
Science Teacher
Start Date- ASAP until June
3 science classes- Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology
You will work with the Science department to determine students' academic and engagement goals.
Responsibilities and duties of the Science teacher include and are not limited to:
- Provide quality education in a Catholic school setting.
- Teach a Science 9-12 curriculum.
- Develop students’ practice skills in questioning, modeling, constructing explanations, data analysis, argumentation, planning, and conducting interactive labs.
- Create an environment where students feel confident using their voices to engage in scientific discourse.
- Facilitate student-led discourse, during which students use evidence to make sophisticated claims and synthesize and critique arguments.
- Facilitate student-led inquiry of various scientific topics and engage students in lab and project-based performance tasks.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the science course curriculum, which is optional.
- Effective classroom instruction.
- Evaluating student performance through regular and consistent formative and summative assessment practices.
- Meeting with parents, teachers, and other professionals..
Successful candidates will have
- Bachelor's or Master's (preferred) degree in education or a related field.
- 2-5 years of teaching experience
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Additional opportunities are available for coaching and/or moderating other clubs and activities.
Other:
- A background and fingerprint report will be conducted and submitted to State authorities as required by law for all personnel working within a school environment. Must be willing to undergo Catholic Diocese VIRTUS certification.
