Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the daily operation of the dietary department ensuring quality food and services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains established dietary standards and policies of the facility.
- Directs, supervises, and assists all dietary functions and personnel.
- Orientates and trains all dietary employees in maintaining high standards of sanitation, housekeeping, safety, and operation and care of equipment.
- Purchases food and supplies from approved vendors as needed, checks incoming shipments, and takes inventory.
- Ensure quality food production, finished food product, and timely delivery of food to residents.
- Visits residents to do nutritional assessment and screening, record food preferences, and evaluate food service for improvement.
- Plans and assists in preparation of holidays, special meals, and functions. Coordinates related activities with nursing service.
- Conducts and/or participates in monthly in-service meetings, attends department head meetings, and participates in scheduled overall care plan meetings.
- Works with interdisciplinary team to develop an overall plan of care for each resident.
Job Requirements:
- Must be Certified Dietary Manager
- Culinary experience
- Prefer minimum of one year experience of quantity food preparation
- Possess critical thinking and leadership skills
- Interest in working with geriatric patients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skill
