Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst

Overview: Dooney & Bourke, a leading branded manufacturer of luxury handbags and accessories, is seeking an experienced Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst to join our dynamic team. This position will play a key role in supporting the financial performance of the company through forecasting, budgeting, and in-depth analysis of our manufacturing processes, costs, and raw materials. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in retail and manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of direct manufacturing models. Reports to the VP of Finance and the Senior Vice President.

Key Responsibilities:

Forecasting & Budgeting:

Develop and maintain comprehensive financial forecasts and annual budgets. Analyze trends, variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights to senior leadership.

Manufacturing & Costing Analysis:

Conduct in-depth analysis of manufacturing costs, including COGs (Cost of Goods Sold) and raw material variance analysis, to identify areas for cost optimization. Collaborate with the production team to understand cost structures, identify variances, and recommend strategies for improving profitability.

Cashflow Modeling:

Develop and update basic cashflow models, ensuring that the company’s working capital is well-managed and optimized. Provide insights into cashflow trends and future financial positioning.

Reporting & Financial Analysis:

Generate regular and ad hoc financial reports using PowerBI and other tools to support decision-making. Present financial results in a clear, concise manner for management and other stakeholders.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, marketing, and sales, to ensure alignment between financial targets and operational goals. Provide financial support for strategic initiatives.

ERP System Management (Oracle E-Business Suite):

Utilize Oracle E-Business Suite for financial reporting, budgeting, and cost tracking. Support the team in leveraging ERP tools for better visibility into financial and manufacturing data.

Skills and Experience:

Analytical Ability:

Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex data, particularly around COGs and raw material costs, and translate it into actionable insights.

Experience in costing analysis, raw material variance analysis, and managing profit margins is essential.

Communication & Leadership:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.

Technical Skills:

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including financial modeling, pivot tables, and complex formulas).

Experience with PowerBI for reporting and data visualization is required.

Familiarity with Oracle E-Business Suite for ERP preferred, budgeting, and costing analysis is highly desirable.

Education and Experience:

·      A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required. A CPA, CFA, or MBA is a plus.

·      5-7 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on retail and manufacturing.

·      Direct experience with manufacturers who operate under a direct manufacturing model is strongly preferred. Experience in the luxury goods or accessories industry is a plus.
