Job Summary:
As a 3D printing technician, you will be responsible for using specialized additive manufacturing software/hardware and 3D modeling tools to produce accurate components for the automatic door industry.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize 3D modeling slicer software to prepare digital files (STLs) for printing components while ensuring optimal resolution, accuracy, and compatibility with existing OEM assemblies
- Operate and maintain 3D printers to ensure high resolution, durability, and overall quality of produced components
- Conduct cost/benefit analysis to ensure feasibility for cost/time effective production of new and existing components
- Conduct technical analysis to ensure feasibility for production, including assessing structural integrity, material compatibility, and manufacturing requirements
- Perform quality checks on 3D models and prototypes to identify design flaws or manufacturing issues before final production
- Inspect 3D printed parts for conformance to specifications
- Perform post processing of parts to improve fit and finish
- Work with other departments to increase the number of printed parts produced
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on 3D printers
- Assist other departments to improve their productivity & efficiency
- Assist the R&D team with development of non-printed items
Requirements:
- Knowledge of 3D printer operation and maintenance
- Knowledge of hand and power tool use
- Proficiency with 3D CAD preferred but not required
- Proficient in MS Office software products
- Must possess problem solving skills, critical and analytical thinking, and organizational skills
- Able to manage weekly tasks and project prioritization without constant supervision.
- Organize weekly production and maintenance schedule independently
- Must possess the ability to efficiently manage and organize the 3D printing area including supplies and backs stock of produced components.
- A self-starter with good interpersonal & communication skills in dealing with suppliers and other team members
Education and Experience:
- 2 years of experience working as a 3D Technician preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
