Packaging/Crating Associate

Packaging and Crating Associates are to be responsible for packaging and crating finished door products to ensure they are safely transported to customers. This role involves working closely with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure that all products are properly packaged, labeled, and prepared for shipment in a timely and efficient manner.

Essential Functions:

Packaging and Crating:

· Ensure all finished door products are packaged and crated according to company standards and customer specifications.

· Select appropriate materials (e.g., wooden crates, corrugated boxes, shrink wrap) to protect doors during transit.

· Measure and cut packaging materials to fit products securely.

· Assemble and seal crates and packaging with precision to prevent product damage.

· Apply labels, barcodes, and shipping documents to packages accurately.

Quality Control:

· Inspect finished doors before packaging to verify product quality, checking for defects or damages that may need addressing.

· Ensure that all products meet safety, design, and packaging standards.

· Ensure that products are securely packaged and free from defects before shipment.

Shipping Preparation:

· Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely packaging of products for outgoing shipments.

· Organize and prepare orders for shipment based on priority and scheduled delivery times.

· Ensure that packed orders are ready for transport, meeting customer and delivery requirements.

· Track the status of outgoing shipments and assist with loading products onto delivery trucks as needed.

Inventory Management:

· Maintain an inventory of packaging materials and ensure adequate stock levels to meet production demands.

· Regularly check the quality of packaging materials and reorder supplies as necessary.

· Report damaged or low stock levels of packaging materials to the Warehouse Supervisor.

Workplace Organization and Cleanliness:

· Maintain a clean and organized packaging and crating area.

· Ensure tools and equipment are well-maintained and stored properly.

· Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Skills and Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in packaging or shipping are a plus.
• 2 years of experience in packaging, crating, or shipping, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with packaging materials, crating techniques, and shipping procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Ability to safely operate tools and equipment (e.g., box cutters, staplers, nail guns, strapping machines).
• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in the door or construction materials manufacturing industry.
• Forklift or other material handling equipment certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems.
• Knowledge of safety standards and procedures in packaging and shipping.

Work Environment:

• This position works in a warehouse and production setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as forklifts, box cutters, nail guns, tape dispensers and standard office equipment such as computers, scanners etc.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
