POSITION: PROGRAM AIDE
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general professional and administrative guidance and supervision, the Program Aide assists in monitoring residents during non-program activities, assures the safety of the facility and its residents, and supports the maintenance of the recovery milieu. The Program Aide works closely with the Senior Counselor and/or Program Manager to effectively respond to any concerns, emergencies, or unanticipated needs of the residents.
POSTION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school diploma or its equivalent (GED) is required.
Licensure/Certification:
· Current registration and enrollment in a certified alcohol and drug counseling curriculum is preferred.
· A California Class C Driver's License is sometimes required, as necessary and appropriate to transport residents and their children.
Experience:
· One (1) to two (2) year's satisfactory employment history.
· A minimum of six (6) months to 1 year of successful personal experience, volunteer work, or regular employment with the goals and process of recovery.
Skills:
· Knowledge of substance-use disorders sufficient to monitor clients in a residential recovery facility.
· The ability to recognize the early signs and symptoms of illness and the ability to promote the need for professional assistance.
· The ability to make appropriate decisions, including seeking support and assistance from on-call staff, to remain calm during a crisis, and to follow appropriate procedures or direction during an emergency.
· The ability to recognize individuals who are under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs.
· Knowledge of 12 Step programs and process.
· Knowledge of good housekeeping and sanitation principles.
· Knowledge of the principles of communicable illness prevention and control.
· Knowledge of community referral resources and the ability to use them appropriately.
· Good listening skills and courteous and appropriate communication skills.
· Ability to provide positive guidance and support to others.
· Knowledge of the needs and sensitivity of women in initial or early recovery from substance use disorders.
Physical Demands and Special Job Conditions
· In good physical health as verified by a health screening.
· Current CPR/First Aid certification.
· Tuberculosis clearance (within 7 days of hire, annually thereafter).
· Moderate walking and standing.
· Ability to assist a debilitated client.
· Voice level that is audible to groups in a class setting.
· Ability to twist, lift, bend to store and retrieve records or supplies.
· Flexibility and dexterity to assist in basic household duties.
· Ability to tolerate moderate stress levels.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 per week
