Location: Dorchester Seniors, Inc. – Summerville and St. George, SC (Headquarters in Summerville) Company vehicle provided for center to center travel.
Position Type: Part-Time or Full-Time
Reports To: Executive Director
Work Environment: On-site only; not a remote position
About the Role
Dorchester Seniors, Inc. (DSI) is seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and community-driven Community Outreach Coordinator (COC) to serve seniors across our Summerville and St. George locations. This role provides vital health and human services information and referrals to seniors and families via phone, email, and in person. The COC will assess client needs, connect them to appropriate community resources, and maintain collaborative relationships with partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to seniors and families to assess unmet needs and connect them with appropriate resources.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
- Conduct follow-up communication and document referrals.
- Serve as liaison for external agency partnerships and senior-focused programs.
- Coordinate donation drives and seasonal giving programs (e.g., holiday drives).
- Transport seniors to local resource centers as needed.
- Oversee and organize senior-related donations and supplies at both center locations.
- Lead or coordinate information sessions about available area resources.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of local senior services.
- Represent DSI at trainings, health fairs, community events, and professional meetings.
- Advocate for clients with other organizations and agencies.
Additional Duties
- Support DSI’s special events and activities as needed.
- Assist with emergency situations under direction of the Executive Director.
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Follow all DSI policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of local community-based programs and services that support the aging population.
- Ability to work effectively with seniors from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Reliable personal transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to transport seniors using DSI agency vehicles.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- On-site role with regular travel between Summerville and St. George centers.
- Occasional participation in outdoor activities and events.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 30 pounds.
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, and computer use.
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment.
- Clear verbal and written communication in English required.
