JOB TITLE: Assistant Hockey Coach
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
REPORTS TO: Head Hockey Coach
PURPOSE OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to assist the head coach in the development and growth of the men’s hockey program at Dordt University which will support the mission of the college, as well as bring a knowledge and passion of the game of hockey to students, with a commitment to excellence and bringing glory to God.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the head coach in developing and implementing daily practice plans.
- Assess player’s skills and performance in matches and practices; inform head coach.
- Assist in the recruiting process with student athletes.
- Other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
- Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.

- Bachelor’s degree along with 1-3 years of related experience.
- Model sportsmanship and a Christ-like attitude always.
- Knowledge of and ability to teach hockey skills and fundamentals.
- Successful coaching experience preferred.
