JOB TITLE: Director of Campus Ministries
DEPARTMENT: Campus Ministries
REPORTS TO: Dean of Chapel
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Primarily responsible for nurturing the spiritual life of the campus community through the various Campus Ministries programs that involve pastoral care, discipleship training, prayer ministry, missions, community outreach, worship leadership, and preaching and/or teaching.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with the Dean of Chapel in the oversight and development for chapel and other campus worship experiences.
- In coordination with the Dean of Chapel, will provide administrative leadership and direction-setting for Campus Ministries.
- May teach periodically, as needed.
- Provide the primary lead role in student crisis care and pastoral duties.
- Actively seeks partnerships and collaboration with faculty to assist in creating a seamless learning community.
- Oversees student mission experiences through PLIA, AMOR, COP, and internship opportunities.
- Works in collaboration with the Assoicate Dean of Student and Director of Residence Life, along with the rest of the Student Services and Campus Ministries personnel in overall care and health of the student living community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
- Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.
- Prospective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy which can be found on the DU website (contact the HR Office if you need additional information).
- A Bachelor of Arts degree is required; a Master of Divinity degree is preferred.
- Experience in student personnel and/or worship ministry is required.
- Understanding of and commitment to the Reformational understanding of the integrality of faith, learning, and life.
- Demonstrated understanding of spiritual formation discipline in a college campus settting.
- Must have a demonstrated knowledge of program and worship planning.
- Verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to listen empathetically and speak to groups of people.
- Pastoral skills, especially as they pertain to spiritual formation and counseling.
- Demonstrated teaching ability.
- Coordination and program leadership skills.
- Some computer skills and administrative skills related to budget administration.
