JOB TITLE : Senior Cost Analyst
DEPARTMENT : Finance
REPORTS TO : Business Controller
ROLE SUMMARY : The Senior Cost Analyst serves as the financial partner to operations management of the Dorf Ketal Energy Services (DKES) in North America and Canada. Provides accuracy and transparency on cost positions and effectiveness of operations. Directs analysis of cost positions and derives strategic impacts for business. Responsible for the development, analysis and interpretation of information to appraise profitability and operations management performance against targets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Lead production cost center planning process for DKES in North America
Support and guide operations management team in preparation of budgeting process. Prepare production cost center planning and activity rates used in standard costing
Provide accurate up-to-date standard costing, work with production and master data team to ensure costing reflects appropriate BOMs and recipes
Manage cost center assessments and allocations
Review cost centers for accuracy throughout the year and initiate corrective measures if needed
Act as center of excellence for operational controlling partnering with operation management and providing guidance, training and support
Direct business financial analysis activities; provides for the analysis and interpretation of past, present and future results of the company relating to costs and rate of return.
Perform month-end closing responsibilities to include Inventory Valuation and Inventory Reconciliation
Review, analyze and provide monthly product costs with variance analyses
Work with Procurement to have insight into near future product costs
Provide monthly costs and variance forecast
Provide detailed analysis of major cost positions to management, identify improvement potentials and gap closure initiatives
Generate routine and ad-hoc reporting to management providing a transparent overview on KPIs used as basis for management decisions
Assure internal controls are in place for selected areas. Gatekeeper ensuring compliance of processes with policies and procedures.
Support regional and global controlling organization
Conversion cost review. The cost loaded on products (using activity rates) v. actual cost incurred every quarter
Compute future costs for products based on future RM prices- Future prices are fed in Datacor by the Procurement team and Datacor computes the final product cost accordingly.
COGS GLs review in FS
Provision for non-moving / slow-moving stock
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Experience / Skills :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent.
CPA or CMA designation is desirable but not required.
Experience / Skills :
Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in Controlling / Financial analyses within a production, engineering or manufacturing environment
Strong analytical skills including MS Excel and Power BI
Preferably experienced in activity-based costing
