ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Development:
- Meets with the clients to determine their experience, education, interests, needs and barriers related to obtaining employment.
- Informs clients of employment opportunities and assists each in identifying the most appropriate field of employment.
- Develops a written employment plan for each participant which includes job placement, job coaching and follow-up services.
- Coordinates with the other key staff to schedule clients for job readiness training which may include classes in job readiness, training in obtaining and maintaining employment and assisting individuals to become knowledgeable about job duties, benefits plans, rates of pay, employment policies and practices and job location prior to job acceptance.
- Facilitates team meetings to discuss clients’ plans and/or progress.
- Provides orientation to the client and others who are instrumental in client’s success in the job development process.
- Facilitates training classes on employability skills and professional development
- Develops new job contacts each month.
- Collaborates with employers to develop job openings, including job analysis consultation and recommendations for job modification when appropriate.
- Educates prospective employers about various disabilities, and vocational implications, use of assistive devises, job accommodations and facility services available to them.
- Attends meetings where referral and/or employment leads may be obtained.
Job Placement:
- Refers clients to potential employment placements.
- Assists clients in the completion of specific job applications/resumes, preparation for interviews and keeping scheduled appointments.
- Acts as liaison for client with employer to offer support and develop accommodations as needed
- Coaches clients as needed in order to retain employment, or leave appropriately.
Follow-up:
- Provides follow-up services to individuals who have been placed in, or referred to, an employment/educational situation in accordance with referral agency requirements.
- Maintain monthly progress reports for each client as required by the referral agency.
- Discusses satisfaction with DKA services with clients on an on-going basis and documents responses in progress notes.
Administrative/Case Files:
- Ensures that the referral meets the criteria of the appropriate program and; makes referrals to alternative programs for individuals who are ineligible.
- Completes job opening, job contact, follow-up/follow-along forms and any other required forms.
- Updates billing status weekly, or as needed.
- Projects monthly revenues supported with actual billable time on a weekly basis.
- Distributes satisfaction surveys to clients, case managers, counselors, or employers as appropriate. Reviews the surveys and makes adjustments in service provision as indicated.
- Documents work, contacts, clients’ progress and behavior in clients’ case files.
- Writes reports as required.
- Maintains positive community relations and assists with marketing activities.
- Participates in business development to ensure grant expenditures and client placement goals are met.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma and one year of experience working with people with disabilities.
- Must be able to manage time effectively and work independently.
- Good written communication skills in order to prepare reports and maintain case files.
- Above average knowledge of the local business community and the ability to market DKA and our clients to businesses.
- Ability to advocate for services and employment for DKA clients.
- Ability to develop employment service plans for clients.
- Use of an insured, reliable vehicle and an Arizona driver’s license.
- Previous job development and placement experience, marketing, sales or program development is preferred.
- Will be required to pass background check and pre-screening drug test.
- Must be able to gain clearance under the Department of Economic Security (fingerprint and background check) within 90 days of employment.
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain CPR and 1st Aid Certification
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
