Job Description: Semi-Trailer Body Repair Technician
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Semi-Trailer Body Repair Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in repairing and replacing various components of semi-trailer bodies, including roofs, flooring, rails, and side structures. This role requires proficiency with power tools, buck riveting systems, and welding, as well as a willingness to work at heights as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Roof Repairs and Replacements:
- Repair and replace aluminum and translucent roofs with precision and durability.
Flooring Repairs and Replacements:
- Install and repair oak and apitong flooring to maintain structural integrity.
Structural Panel and Sheet Repairs:
- Replace side sheets, nose rails, bottom rails, top rails, corner radius components, and scrub rails efficiently.
Welding and Fabrication:
- Perform high-quality welding of steel and aluminum components to meet structural and safety standards.
Riveting and Assembly:
- Use buck riveting systems and other fastening methods to assemble or repair semi-trailer components.
Diagnostics and Inspections:
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify damage or wear and propose appropriate repair solutions.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure repairs meet company standards and regulatory compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in repairing aluminum and translucent roofs, including proper sealing techniques.
- Skilled in oak and apitong flooring installation and repairs for semi-trailers.
- Expertise in replacing and repairing side sheets, nose rails, bottom rails, top rails, scrub rails, and corner radii.
- Strong ability to operate power tools and buck riveting systems safely and effectively.
- Welding proficiency with both steel and aluminum, including MIG and TIG welding techniques.
- Physically capable of working at heights without fear, with attention to safety.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail in diagnosing and repairing trailer components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, repair manuals, and specifications.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a semi-trailer body repair technician or in a similar role.
- Certification in welding or other related technical skills.
- Familiarity with industry-specific tools and materials.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork abilities.
Work Environment:
- Requires physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Work may take place outdoors or in a repair facility, with exposure to various weather conditions.
