What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician - Second Shift position at Doskocil Mfg.?
The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for performing equipment repairs and preventative inspections on equipment as per procedures in a safe and professional manner as directed. The level III technician conducts diagnosis and identification of maintenance issues. They are responsible for equipment repairs with high levels of complexity, on site or in a maintenance workshop. This level of technician will take account the equipment, with knowledge of how modification of one element will have consequences on general operation. Completes necessary paperwork accurately and on time. Second Shift: 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Serves as the lead technician in diagnosing machine malfunctions and operating problems and helping fellow technicians to learn key attributes to diagnostics.
- Define and executes preventative maintenance plans on more complex pieces of equipment.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, sketches, engineering specifications, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Leads project teams related to installation of new machine tools or the relocation of existing machines. Also trains other team members on more complex maintenance processes.
- Oversee parameter control on equipment in operation with measuring tools integrated to the equipment.
- Monitor and adjust equipment settings (for example pully or motor alignment), maintain breaking and safety device controls (sensors and circuit breakers) and conduct standard exchange replacement of more complex technology (controller cards, cylinders, pumps, engines, gears, bearings, etc.
- Run-off surface descaling (cooling towers, chillers), etc.
- Support chiller, tower maintenance, air compressors, loaders, material handling equipment, and thermolators controls.
- Take the lead role in rebuilding and/or repairing equipment to ensure optimal uptime of a wide variety of machines.
- Supports a culture of preventative maintenance by scheduling and proactively managing maintenance activities within CMMS.
- Contributes guidance and mentorship to the larger Maintenance team in work-related events at staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Overtime and weekends (Saturday/Sunday) may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Requires a HS Diploma/GED. Graduation from an industrial trade school highly preferred.
- At least five years of previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, to include preventative maintenance experience.
- Maintenance experience within plastics industry.
- Must have experience reading a voltage meter and have motor control experience.
- Must have basic tools and rollaway toolbox.
- Knowledge of OSHA worksite and personal safety requirements.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to stand and walk for an entire shift.
- Must have normal color vision and be able to work all shifts.
- Proven track record of successful maintenance/repair of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and associated equipment.
- Team-oriented individual with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to perform basic functions on a computer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, or crawl. Employee is frequently exposed to extreme temperatures in warehouse environment. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Frequently exposed to conditions typically found in a manufacturing plant: noise, dust, heat, and chemicals.
