What You’ll Do:
- Training Management
- Develop employee training requirements and maintain records for shop and construction sites.
- Arrange, schedule, and maintain records for training for the Operations Team as needed.
- Develop and implement a New Hire Orientation and onboarding safety training to introduce new hires to GMI as well as their respective jobsites.
- Records Retention and Reporting
- Ensure OSHA mandatory training subjects are included in annual submission of weekly training packages and maintain records.
- Provide job-specific training materials and documentation. Update files for each employee for the training received including irregular tasks.
- Maintain and submit OSHA injury logs, as well as other mandated reports to corporate and third-party programs.
- Review weekly training reports from the shop and field.
- Policy Review
- Perform annual review and update of GMI Corporate Safety Policy to ensure compliance with regulatory changes.
- Generate all project safety documentation to include job specific safety plans, SDS books, etc.
- Develop and maintain accident procedures for automobile accidents and on-site incidents, as well as a call list for reporting incidents.
- Maintain records of safety leaders and contacts for every ongoing project.
- Ensure all jobsites have required federal and state documentation on hand as well as medical/first aid kits. Ensure on-site safety rep will identify and provide addresses and contact information for all medical facilities to job supervision for potential emergencies.
- Incident Response
- Review and investigate all safety incidents, jobsite injuries, and vehicle accidents to determine root cause. Submit and track remediation actions required.
- Take an active lead role in all incidents, including those requiring medical attention.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Visit production shops and site projects to meet with leaders, Safety Team, and employees. Develop relationships with clients and safety counterparts to ensure collaboration.
- Team Management
- Oversee and manage onsite Safety Reps.
- Recruit and hire as necessary to maintain adequate safety supervision on projects.
- Evaluate the current Safety Team to grow their skillset for their development and betterment of the projects.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Construction Safety Industry.
- Experience in mechanical installation, tools, equipment, and rigging is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills are necessary.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Certifications
- OSHA 500 certification is required.
- Other advanced professional industry training certifications are preferred.
- Driving Requirements
- Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted.
- Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years.
- All driving records are run as part of our pre-employment process and reviewed at the discretion of the Safety Team.
- Physical Requirements
- Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
