DOT continuously improves internal processes and technology to enhance provided services and yield increased client resilience against cyberattacks.
DOT is seeking to fill the role of Cybersecurity Implementation Engineer (CIE). A CIE plans, implements, and supports cybersecurity systems including hardware, virtual, and cloud workloads. Provides technical support to clients in accordance with established or approved organizational processes. Sets up systems or components and develops and maintains procedures for doing so.
The CIE is not a remote position. The CIE is required to be on-site at the DOT Security Operations Center.

- Facilitate the deployment and maintenance of cybersecurity and compliance solutions
- Develop new standardized procedures, tools, and methods to support solution deployment activities
- Develop skills through independent research, formal training, team collaboration, and community events
Audit Support
- Review results and recommendations generated by auditors during cybersecurity and compliance audits
- Translate audit findings into specific technical tasks and controls
- Attend audit report delivery meetings to provide technical feedback and expertise
Onboarding
- Coordinate the deployment of solutions into client environments
Maintenance
- Determine maintenance and tuning requirements for client solutions deployments
- This includes ongoing vulnerability management, systems monitoring and analysis, and upgrade plans
Things We Are Looking For
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to present, document, and communicate complex technical information to audiences at all organizational levels.
- Technical understanding of operating systems, networks, IT infrastructure, and system administration.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical problems using command-line tools (e.g., mkdir, mv, grep, ipconfig, netstat).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles related to system resiliency, redundancy, data backup/recovery, and disaster recovery/business continuity.
- Knowledge of penetration testing, threat modeling, ethical hacking principles, and malware identification, capture, and containment.
- Experience designing secure network, system, and application architectures using controls such as:
- SIEM, NDR, EDR/MDR
- Firewalls, WAFs, UTMs, proxies, and content filters
- Spam filters, DLP, vulnerability management systems
- Security awareness training platforms and enterprise password management
- Strong understanding of security frameworks: CIS Controls, NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, and OWASP.
- Working knowledge of compliance requirements: HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR, CMMC.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Perl, Python, or PowerShell).
- Ability to analyze network traffic, code, and telemetry to identify and respond to threats.
- Skilled in preparing and delivering technical reports, plans, and briefings using presentation tools.
- Comfortable working independently or collaboratively in dynamic, ambiguous environments.
- Strong critical thinking, adaptability, customer service orientation, and ethical mindset.
Other Desired Attributes
- At least 3 years of recent and relevant experience in IT and/or cybersecurity (ideally in managed services).
- Relevant certifications such as Network , Security , CCNA, or other security architecture/engineering credentials.
- Relevant college degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to perform light lifting as needed.
- Eligible for or able to pass a Public Trust background check (if required).
- Active participation in the cybersecurity community (conferences, groups, Capture the Flag events, open-source projects).
- Experience with deployment technologies such as Group Policy and RMM tools.
