Art Director
One of our biggest brands, People, is looking for an Art Director to work closely with our Senior Creative Director and editorial leads to design static and motion content for a premium digital app. In this role you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to create elevated editorial designs and help maintain intuitive, scalable, and always-on-brand templates that support our content strategy and engage and delight our audiences.
As an Art Director at the People App you will be responsible for doing competitive research, designing the look and feel of various brand elements and refining and iterating on those ideas for various stakeholders.

Start date: 4/1/2025
End date: 6/30/2025 with potential to extend
Hourly Rate: $45
Location: Hybrid - New York, Los Angeles or Seattle DDM Office

Assignment Responsibilities
- Take ownership of assigned design projects and follow established processes to ensure smooth delivery of creative assets.
- Work alongside the Senior Creative Director to set the People App’s overall look and feel, and ensure execution across teams is on brand.
- Lead the creation of thoughtfully designed digital editorial content and graphic templates that seamlessly integrate with the App’s UI.
- Collaborate with product design team, commerce and growth teams.
- Help maintain digital brand guides.

Design
- Use requirements and stakeholder feedback to design premium visual assets, such as digital editorial static and motion designs and content templates, on an ongoing basis.
Collaborate with Editorial, Product, UX teams
- Teach digital producers how to use static and motion templates you have created as part of a larger design system.
- Present design solutions and build consensus among a broad range of stakeholders.
- Help build and maintain a happy and creative culture within the design team.
- Participate in brainstorming and critique sessions that foster big picture thinking while identifying opportunities to raise the bar on the details.
Process Management
- Keep project management tickets up to date, communicate progress, keep files organized, monitor communication from stakeholders, and meet deadlines.
Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
- 1-2 years as an Art Director, 5-10 years as a designer
- Strong typography skills
- Strong editorial design skills
- Strong design system skills
- Strong motion graphics skills
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, InDesign)
- Proficient in Figma
- Publishing industry experience
- Branding experience
- Self-motivated
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- A team player ready to work in a fast-paced environment
