Digital Media Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or such alternatives as the Board may require.
2. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in news, public relations, communications, or multimedia production in a school or business environment.
3. Membership with the National School Public Relations Association or Public Relations Society of America, preferred.
4. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

TERMS OF EMPLOYEMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Enhance the public relations and communication of the Dothan City School District through video production and other media.
2. Design digital media campaigns that are aligned with Dothan City Schools vision, mission and beliefs.
3. Produce and distribute video and other multi-media content to digital platforms and the news media.
4. Assist in the management of the district's digital platforms.
5. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
6. Assists in generating positive media coverage of the Dothan City School System programs, services, and initiatives.
7. Assist in promoting the school system's strengths/ achievements.
8. Perform duties in a courteous and professional manner.
9. Serves as a videographer for school and district events.
10.Coordinates live streaming events such as, but not limited to, board and committee meetings, community events, meetings, and sporting events including video display boards.
11. Shoots and edits video for external and internal audiences.
12. Distributes video content that promotes the district and its schools to traditional media as well as the district's electronic and digital platforms.
13. Assists in the management of the district's website and social media platforms.
14. Maintains the confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
15. Models and maintains high ethical standards.
16. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
17. Assist with administrative and other office duties as needed.
18. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Possess a strong understanding of visual storytelling and best practices of videography.
- Possess a strong understanding of advanced graphic design techniques and related software, video production technology including high-quality digital media content, video cameras, editing software, post-production software, and video distribution services.
- Knowledge and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premier Pro, InDesign illustrator) and/or other video editing software.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic website and social media management.
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
