We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Biologics Coordinator / Medical Assistant to join our team. This dual-role position combines the responsibilities of managing biologics (biological treatments) coordination and performing medical assisting duties. The successful candidate will work closely with healthcare providers, patients, and the medical team to ensure the smooth delivery of biologics treatments and provide administrative support in a clinical environment. This position will start the last week of May.
Key Responsibilities:
Biologics Coordination:
- Coordinate and schedule biologics treatments for patients, ensuring timely administration and accurate documentation.
- Maintain detailed records of biologics administration, including patient history, treatment protocols, and follow-up appointments.
- Work closely with pharmaceutical vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of biologic drugs.
- Educate patients on biologic treatments, side effects, and aftercare.
- Monitor and track inventory of biologic drugs, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
- Assist in the submission of insurance authorizations and ensure appropriate billing codes are used for biologics treatments.
- Collaborate with medical providers to address any issues regarding biologic treatments and patient care.
Medical Assistant Duties:
- Assist physicians and healthcare providers in performing medical procedures and examinations.
- Prepare patients for exams, take vitals, and document medical histories.
- Perform injections as needed.
- Provide patient education on treatments, medications, and procedures.
- Maintain and organize patient records, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, confirming patient appointments, and answering patient inquiries.
- Ensure proper sterilization of medical equipment and maintain clinical safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant certification preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with biologics or specialty medications, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care procedures, and biologics treatments is a plus.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.
- Proficient in using medical office software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Willingness to assist with patient transportation as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with biologic medications and treatments.
- Knowledge of insurance procedures related to biologics.
- Previous experience as a medical assistant in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Must be good with numbers and spreadsheets.
Working Conditions:
- Work will be performed in a clinical or medical office setting.
- You must be very flexible and float other positions as needed.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
