Job Summary
The assistant operations manager will assist the operations manager in day-to-day plant operations. These duties range from quality control, food safety and general logistical items.
Essential Functions
- Review and maintain quality management system.
- Work with operations manager to lead QC personnel in sampling and analyzing fruit quality at various stages in the fruit life cycle.
- Develop educational training materials and work with packing supervisors to execute training.
- Work well with outside QC inspectors to ensure Double Diamond meets standards for a varied customer base.
- Collaborate with internal team in managing food safety programs and practices including annual audits.
- Assist with production scheduling and aid decision making.
- Integrate with shipping and logistical teams to understand and guide fruit flow from receipt to shipping.
Job Requirements
- Education – Four-year degree in related discipline such as: agronomy, horticulture, engineering, or science-based degrees. Relevant work-related experience will be considered in the absence of a degree.
- Training requirements – Ability to be certified in various food safety programs such as HACCP and SQF. Ability to pass WSDA fumigation license exam.
- Knowledge - Know or able to learn fruit grades and packaging standards, environmental microbiological monitoring, and sanitation of food facilities.
- Experience – 3 years or more experience in food production in a food safety, production, or quality control related role.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
