Job Summary:
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day supervision of hourly Starbucks associates, assigning specified work, focusing on store level operation performance.
Job Essentials:
· Supervises the day-to-day activities of non-exempt operations associates within the Starbucks unit
· Assigns work tasks and activities, prepares schedules, and ensures that all shifts are covered according to Starbucks brand standards.
· Prepares daily orders, ensures units are stocked with appropriate levels of product.
· Conducts on-the-job Starbucks trainings for associates to ensure all associates receive basic skills training to perform their jobs
· Maintains an awareness of all applicable brand standards.
· Maintains an awareness of all federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards, and all procedures and protocols to comply with the law
· Uses judgment and discretion to resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels
· Provides input for hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other status change of associates within the store
· Consistently provides direct reports with support, coaching and encouragements necessary to achieve business goals.
· Operate as a Barista during shift; Greet customers, take orders, Arrange coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays; Maintain bar/cart area in a neat and sanitary manner. Clean coffee machines, coffee shop areas, restrooms and preparation areas etc.
· Maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items.
· Record all sales, collects money, operates a cash register and follows all cash-handling procedures as required.
· Anticipate customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues.
· Manage guest requests, inquiries, and complaints promptly and completely. Ensure follow up with guest are performed in a timely manner to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction and quality service. In the event of dissatisfaction, negotiate compromise in accordance to the “Make it Right” established guidelines.
· Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
· Follow Starbucks operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
· Follow proper Hotel safety policies and procedures and use safety equipment as needed to ensure the safety of all team members during each shift. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
· Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules. Ensure work area is clean and clear of standing water, debris or any objects that can obstruct the job duties from being performed safely, efficiently and effectively
· Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
· While performing the duties of this position, the job regularly requires standing and walking during an entire shift, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required, and college degree preferred
- One year of Barista experience required
- Must possess a Food Handlers Certification
