Job Overview:
The DoubleTree by Hilton in Downtown Portland is seeking a dedicated and energetic Morning Barista to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about coffee, customer service, and creating a welcoming environment for our guests. This role involves preparing high-quality beverages, maintaining the cleanliness of the coffee shop, and providing exceptional service to our guests during the morning shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Beverage Preparation:
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and smoothies.
- Ensure consistency and quality in every cup by following established recipes and presentation standards.
- Guest Service:
- Greet guests warmly and provide excellent customer service.
- Take guest orders accurately and efficiently.
- Address guest inquiries and resolve any complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Operational Duties:
- Operate and maintain coffee-making equipment, ensuring it is clean and in good working condition.
- Keep the coffee shop area clean and organized, including counters, machines, and seating areas.
- Restock supplies such as coffee beans, milk, and pastries as needed.
- Sales and Cash Handling:
- Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed.
- Promote and upsell additional items such as pastries, snacks, and retail products.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other staff members to ensure smooth operations during the shift.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to address any issues or special requests.
Qualifications:
- Experience and Skills:
- Previous experience as a barista or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Attributes:
- Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays.
