Maintenance Technician

Compensation: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on experience
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team at DoubleTree by Hilton South Bend Downtown. This individual plays a vital role in ensuring our facilities are well-maintained, fully operational, and aligned with our commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience.
The ideal candidate is both proactive and responsive—someone who not only resolves maintenance issues promptly but also anticipates and prevents them through regular inspections and preventive upkeep.
We are currently under renovations.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and repair work on hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, the pool, and surrounding grounds.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and other facility functions.

Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the safety, comfort, and functionality of all areas.

Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and internal work orders.

Communicate with management regarding any major repair needs or necessary upgrades to systems and infrastructure.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and report issues requiring further attention.

Monitor utility meter readings and ensure optimal equipment performance.

Assist with programming and troubleshooting hotel phone systems as needed.

Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, and essential parts.

Stay informed of and adhere to emergency procedures and safety protocols.

Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and other departments to support hotel operations.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Prior experience in facility maintenance, general repairs, or a related field preferred.

Working knowledge of general building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical.

Ability to use tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Basic math and measurement skills for calculating materials and inspecting work quality.

Ability to lift and move materials, climb ladders, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
